Narges Mohammadi

Narges Mohammadi is a Dutch-Afghan artist, curator, and DJ currently living in the Netherlands. Mohammadi’s works are characterized by an interplay of fragrances, colors, symbols, and customs drawn from diverse cultural heritages, which she expresses through the creation of immersive installations and sculptures that embody long-lost memories.

Over the course of our on-going collaboration since 2019 I’ve helped Narges in developing the visual identities of various initiatives of hers (like a multi-sensorial dinner in Rotterdam or presentation space at Unfair 2023), title design for film credits, web design and printed matter, as well as more atypical commissions like designing a font based on the Dove cosmetics brand logo. Below is selection of featured projects.

Portfolio Website (2024)

A web portfolio that presents Narges Mohammadi’s multifaceted practice with clarity and elegance. The project involved redesigning and restructuring Narges’s portfolio to effectively showcase her multilayered work across artistic, curatorial, and DJing practices.

“As a sculptor of memory, Narges translates diverse experiences into tributes such as her children’s room, home care and Persian traditions. In doing so, she creates space for the viewer to come to contemplation, empathy, consciousness and reflection.”

— Quote from the artist’s biography

Identity for a multi-sensory dinner programme “Op een eiland” (2022)

1 / 12

“Op een eiland" (On an island) was a multi-sensory dinner programme hosted by Narges for the occasion of the end of her residency at Waterwerken, Buitenplaats Brienenoord (Rotterdam). The dinner programme highlighted the notion of digesting and showed experiences of hope and hopelessness in relation to being bereft of land or water. For this project, I used riso printing for the cover and the menu.
